From BPD: Don't let in strangers impersonating city workers

Subject: Boston Police: C-11 Dorchester Alert - Beware of Scams

Due to the recent rain amounts and given the likelihood of additional rains, area residents are asked to be highly suspicious or cautious of any individual or individuals wishing to gain access to their home. If a person, is claiming to be an employee of the Water and Sewer Commission or the Water Disaster Department is attempting to gain entry into your home do not allow them to come in. In the event that this occurs you are to urge to immediately call 911.

Any legitimate employee of the Water and Sewer Commission or any other utility company is required to have identification on their person. Employees will also be wearing the appropriate uniform with the company logo embossed on it. Employees will be driving trucks or motor vehicles with the company name and or logo on the side of the vehicle. In some occasions construction crews and utility companies will be accompanied by uniformed Boston Police Officers.

The Boston Police Department urges any community members with information regarding similar incidents to call the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1 (800) 494-TIPS or text the work ‘TIP’ to CRIME (27463). The Boston Police Department is interested only in your information, not your identity.
